Yesterday, it was 55 degrees and I was out fishing. Today…
Well, today I have 2 inches of snow.
There is a tired old joke here in Nebraska…
“Don’t like the Nebraska weather? Just wait minute; it will change.”
I’ve waited a minute… I still have snow.
We Nebraskans are a hardy people.
We have to be. It is the only way to handle the crazy weather here.

Just about the time a fisherman gets enough good weather to actually believe spring is close, winter has a way of kicking you right in the kabooski!
No kidding! Especially here in this crazy state!
We’ve actually been having rain all day, oddly enough. On top of the two feet of snow we still had. It’s a soupy mess, but I’ll take the precip. All our lakes were 2-8 feet low last year, and our favorite marsh was un-navigable in our jon boat.
Most of our lakes are down about 5 feet too… It’s kinda sad to see; but that is life on the Great Plains. Always boom or bust!
Now the advantage to this is that I have spotted a lot of cover (brush piles, stumps, etc) in the lower water that I have never seen before… And I have made mental notes of their location for when the water comes back!
